Photos from AHSP 2005
Following are some photos taken by Phil Wherry at NOVAC and VOLT's "Almost Heaven Star Party," held at The Mountain Institute in West Virginia from June 2-5, 2005.
We had rain and low clouds for two days. Here are some photos of the observing field and registration area as we waited for clear skies.
One of the highlights of AHSP 2005 was our tour of the National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO) Green Bank facility. The Green Bank Telescope (also known by the alternate name "Big Byrd") is gigantic: the surface of the dish is an ellipse measuring 100 x 110 meters.
Photographs from Saturday, June 4: presenters and the final awards dinner.
Astrophotographs taken under clear skies on Saturday night. These are all completely unprocessed images taken straight from the camera!
