Our final day was a short hop of just 139 miles from Barstow, CA to Pasadena. A beautiful cool, dry day and a great way to end the excellent adventure of the two roadrunners.

Gassed up and ready to go In Barstow, CA.

We're now on the western edge of desert country.

Lots of these short, stunted palms.

And lots of these funny bony cactus, too.

Here it is cowboy fans.

Only the San Bernadino mountains stand between us and the LA metropolitan area.

See the smog ahead? We're almost there.

One mile to go.

Flowering trees are in bloom.

The palm trees are tall.

Matt lives a few minutes' walking distance from the Rose Bowl.

Home at last! That's Matt's townhouse apartment. His two-car garage is on the left.

His apt. is the far end unit. Three floors.

Even a backyard.

Matt says, "It's good to be home."

I've persuaded Matt to show us some of his recent design projects. This is a laptop clipboard.

A form exercise

It's a rocket ship design in fiberglass with a super slick cherry red finish.

Full size dash of the new 'Cuda.

A desk set--tape dispenser, pencil holder, CD holder.

Some recent car studies.

Maybe we'll see this on the road in a few years.

Matt said, "Oh that's just something I drew the other day while I was watching TV."

The 'Cuda arrives at Art Center.

The Art Center College of Design from the drive into the campus.

I wanted to drive by the Rose Bowl which is just five minutes away from Art Center--but UCLA was playing Texas and the roads were all clogged. Here's the Met Life blimp though--as seen from the Art Center parking lot.

Art Center is on the side of a mountain next to the Rose Bowl. Here's a view looking down atthe Rose Bowl from the Art Center parking lot.

From the parking lot we go down the stairs to Art Center.

The halls are empty now between semesters.

Here's the studio where Matt's class will work next semester.

A four foot clay model left from last semester.

Someone's corner of the studio.

View along the back of the modern Art Center building. The building is about two blocks long.

Ardyss wanted to know if roses are blooming in Pasadena now. So we drove by the Tournament of Roses headquarters.

Here are some pictures of roses in the Tournament of Roses garden.

Roses ARE in bloom.

Red roses.

Yellow roses.

Multicolor roses.

But, I think these are Begonias in front of their sign!

Back home, Matt pulls his "real" car out of the garage to drive me to the airport.

And drives the 'cuda in.

We pass through downtown LA on the way to the airport.

Downtown LA.

We end the pictures here in downtown LA just minutes from the airport where I'll stay tonight before flying back to Virginia early Sunday morning.
